About Me

My name is Tara C. K. Montague, and I recently graduated from Hollins University’s Master of Arts in Teaching program with a PK-6 certification. I’m originally from West Virginia, but I currently live in Vinton, VA. I graduated from Radford University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and I was an Instructional Assistant at Glenvar Elementary for 3 years. I recently completed my student teaching requirement at Glen Cove Elementary in Roanoke, VA under the guidance of Stephanie Doyle. Outside of the classroom, I love reading, writing, painting, knitting, yoga, and gardening.

My Hollins University colleagues and I at Turn the Page’s bimonthly Books and Breakfast event.

My goals as a teacher:

  • Challenge students to think collaboratively, creatively, and critically with engaging and purposeful instruction.
  • Cultivate a student-centered learning environment that encourages students to be enthusiastic about learning, reflect on their strengths and goals, and understand that their actions, thoughts, and contributions are valuable.
  • Create authentic learning experiences that engage students in higher-level thinking and equip them with the skills they need in order to be successful participants in a rapidly changing 21st century world.
